چکیده
Aculus taihangensis is a potential biological control agent of Ailanthus altissima (Miller) Swingle. However, predatory mites found in Europe may affect the action this eriophyid agent. The aim present study was to evaluate biology two mites, Euseius stipulatus and Typhlodromus (Typhlodromus) exhilaratus, feeding on A. taihangensis. Rearing stocks were maintained germination chambers at 25 ± 1 °C, with 12 hours photophase relative humidity 70 5%. Of 40 individualized T. (T.) exhilaratus eggs, only 37.5% achieved adulthood, while viability E. 87.5%. mean fecundity 18 eggs/ female. Both evaluated feed seems be an efficient predator, capable controlling

Biological flora of Central Europe: Ailanthus altissima (Mill.) Swingle
Ailanthus altissima (tree of heaven), Simaroubaceae, is an early successional tree, native to China and North Vietnam, which has become invasive in Europe and on all other continents except Antarctica. It is most abundant in urban habitats and along transportation corridors, but can also invade natural habitats. This paper reviews the literature on the morphology, distribution, ecology, habitat...
متن کاملNeighbourhood analyses of the allelopathic effects of the invasive tree Ailanthus altissima in temperate forests
1. Allelopathic interactions between invasive and native species have been suggested to be an important mechanism for the success of some of the most aggressive plant invaders. However, field experiments that test the effects of natural levels of allelopathic compounds on coexisting native species are exceptionally rare. 2. In this study, we analyzed the allelopathic effects of the invasive tre...
متن کاملThe embryology of Ailanthus altissima (Simaroubaceae): an invasive species from Iran
Simaroubaceae is a monophyletic family in the order Sapindales with 22 genera and 109 species. Ailanthus altissima (Mill) Swingle, also known as the tree of heaven, is a highly invasive species, which systematically belongs to Simaroubaceae. Reproductive characteristics are essential for the deployment and maintenance of invasive species in new environments and examination of the reproductive s...
متن کاملEcological application of biotic resistance to control the invasion of an invasive plant, Ageratina altissima
Biotic resistance is the ability of species in a community to limit the invasion of other species. However, biotic resistance is not widely used to control invasive plants. Experimental, functional, and modeling approaches were combined to investigate the processes of invasion by Ageratina altissima (white snakeroot), a model invasive species in South Korea. We hypothesized that (1) functional ...

(1–3). However, this is near the upper limit of settings typically recommended for hot water cylinders, and heat losses incurred during laundering mean the maximum reached in many domestic washing machines may well be considerably lower than this. It has been suggested that commercial laundering might be better able to provide such conditions. Using dataloggers embedded in duvets, temperature p...
